Aircraft of Dutch Manufacturers
Model Building Reports
by Rob Hamann
This website gives an overview of the models in 1:72 and 1:144 scale (and some in scale 1:48) of aircraft designed and constructed by Dutch manufacturers. It contains building reports of the commercially available model kits , which could be identified (and are privately affordable). In practice this means, that the models are limited to aircraft from Fokker, Koolhoven, Pander, Schelde and Van Berkel. As I have only started to produce building reports systematically since May 2010, many of the reports have still a rather rudimentary form; I hope to complete, or rather reconstruct, them in due time. The overview has been updated to include all kits that are still in the stash and scratch build models planned.
It is also possible to view the reports according to the categories civil aircraft (with subcategories passenger transport and general aviation) and military aircraft (with subcategories fighters, reconnaissance, bombers and training).
The website also contains a gallery showing pictures of the models, a list of references for the aircraft and a data base correlating references and aircraft as a PDF-file or an Excel spreadsheet. From a collegue modeller I received three calendars published by Fokker in the second half of the sixties featuring cut-away drawings of a number of Fokker aircraft. Scans of these calendars and some more drawings are also included in this website.
The ninety seven models completed up till today have been built in the period from 2003 up till today. I have included a list of models that I plan to build in the future. And there is a PDF-document for ordering a limited number of custom produced decals for some of my models. I have published building reports in Dutch on the Modelbrouwers Forum. Finally I have included a limited number of How to .... documents (some in Dutch).
As the civil airliners showcases in the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop (Aviation Megastore) in Aalsmeerderbrug (close to Schiphol) are going to be removed, the model of the Fokker F.26 Phantom has returned home.
What's new since November 7th, 2018
The 1/72 pre-production resin kit of the Koolhoven F.K.43 PH-NAU in the livery of the Nationale Luchtvaartschool (NLS, National Flying School) has been finished, the building report completed and pictures of the model are included in the gallery. The master for a resin model of this aircraft has been made and production has been completed; all copies of the series of 58 kits have been sold.
A next project has been initiated: masters for 1/72 scale resin models of the Koolhoven F.K.49, a cartography aircraft of the Dutch Army Air Department, and its variant F.K.49A, an ambulance float plane for the Finnish coast guard. Planned release dates of the kits is winter 2018/spring 2019. The F.K.49 kit is in production, and a pre-production kit is being built. All resin kits are released under the brand name HA Models.
The special reconnaissance version of the Fokker G.IA, the so-called Bathtub G.I, a modification of the 1:72 MPM kit, has been completed, but pictures still have to be included in the gallery. The gallery is under reconstruction to make it better readible.
All pages have been updated to incorporate the last status.
